John Baumber

I am Visiting Professor at the University of Sunderland and Manav Rachna University in Delhi . John co-founded Global SpiritEd after several iterations of working with dozens of schools inspired by KED to bring a more personalised approach to learning. This journey included being Head of the nternational Centre for Educational Enhancement at the University of Bolton combined with an ongoing role as
Director of Education for Kunskapsskolan (UK)). John works in several international settings – Saudi, India, US, South Africa and of course he UK.

I am a writer, speaker and describe myself as a school
improvement activist. At the core of his work and moral purpose is
the belief that when we build authentic relationships with young
people, they thrive and achieve. To do this I believe we must
personalise the offer we make them, and we enable them to develop
agency, so they have the intrinsic motivation to take charge of their
learning and develop the skills to be resilient and creative decent
human beings.
This is a brave endeavour and often runs counter to traditional
educational system thinking. But it is probably the only way that
young people will be able to navigate through the complexities and
pressures of our chaotic and rapidly changing world.
